Any business is only as successful as its amount of customers and the best way to obtain them is from advertising for your business.

Whether you’re a new business with no customers or an existing business that simply wants more, the most powerful and effective form of advertising today is social media marketing through Facebook and Instagram ads. More importantly, social media is also the most powerful and effective tool to scale your business to continually obtain new customers on a daily basis.

Before social media, people relied heavily on newspaper ads, billboards, radio ads and TV commercials to get their name out there because they were the primary media sources and where everyone turned for information. These were very expensive options and yet produced little to no measurable results.

Today, social media has quickly become the superior method of advertising because it’s convenient, infinitely more affordable and is simply where everyone has turned their attention, especially for Facebook and Instagram with their combined 2 billion monthly active users from all over the world. There are more people spending their time on social media than other forms of media.

In fact, it can be argued that people spend too much time on social media. The average person checks their accounts every 10-12 minutes from the moment they wake up until the moment they fall asleep. That’s about 80 times a day! This is, of course, great for business.

For you, all of this means that no matter what your business is, your target audience is guaranteed to be reached through Facebook and Instagram.


Understanding the social media landscape.

You may already have a Facebook and/or Instagram account for your business, but simply having these is not the same as doing actual social media marketing. Just posting and being active isn’t enough and is pretty much a waste of time.

If you’re not also paying for ads, it is significantly limiting your business. Why? Firstly, 75% or more of your followers don’t even see your content. A traditional post that you create on Facebook or Instagram, such as a written post, photo post, video post, story post or even live video, is called an organic post. There is no money behind it and it is only being shown to your own current followers.

The average Facebook and Instagram organic post is only reaching and being seen by 1-10% of an account’s followers. Some above-average accounts can reach up to 25% of their followers with their posts through compelling content and clever hash-tagging, but this is rare. So, if you have 10,000 followers, only 100 - 2,500 of them will see your post.

Even if 100% of your followers see your posts, what good does that even do you anyway if the people who already follow you and know you are the only people seeing your content? Chances are that they are already customers, or friends or family, etc. Only showing your content to the same handful of people who already know you will never be a scalable business model leading to success and growth. After all, isn’t the reason you started your business, to take it to the maximum level?

That is only achievable with paid ads.
